Lighthouse library updates

Under Construction. Meanwhile - go to: http://www.freewebs.com/eccrc

We are completing the Lighthouse Library project in Dexter, KS. This community library and resource center works to assist others in reading skills and in learning computer skills. Our project was built with all volunteer labor. People donated toward this project and we did a lot of fund raisers. We raised over $30,000 for the buidling materials. We need about $5,000 to complete our project. We still have to put the ceiling in the main library and the insulation. We need to purchase the appliances for the kitchen and we need a washer and dryer (stacking type).

The site has a small thrift store (Treasure Chest) and a cabin, sustaining projects to raise the funds to pay the utilities for the library. The thrift store stocks denim clothing for toddlers, children, and adults. It also will have unique gifts - many with ocean themes. The Grouse Valley Lodge cabin has ocean decor.

There is a 25-ft. lighthouse on the library site. An outdoor movie theater (Oceanfront Cinem) is planned for family dollar movie nights. We also plan a unique ocean water aquarium in the children's section of the library. The front wall of the library will have portholes where children can look through the aquarium to the outside or look from the outside into the aquarium. $1,500 is needed to build the aquairum for the children's section.

Donations are tax deductible: ECCRC, PO Box 40, Dexter, KS 67038. We appreciate every dollar. Our library was built with many $5.00 donations among a few larger donations. Each donation was appreciated. ECCRC is run by all volunteers. 100% of donations go toward ECCRC projects. eccresourcecenter@yahoo.com
